Sporting and Recreation Clubs and Associations


Sporting and recreation clubs and associations directly affected by a declared natural disaster may be eligible for a low interest loan of up to $10,000 to support recovery.

The concessional loans can assist with costs associated with clean up, removal of debris and/or the restoration of essential facilities, equipment or other assets that have been damaged or destroyed by a natural disaster.

Visit the Declarations page to check that your Local Government Area (LGA) has been declared for a natural disaster event.

Applications must be lodged by the relevant close date listed for the disaster event and your LGA on the Declarations page.

Loan overview

Loan amount: 
$10,000 maximum.

Loan term
Up to 5 years (depending on the amount borrowed and repayment capacity).

Interest rate:
2023-24 Natural Disaster Declarations: 2.79% per annum
2024-25 Natural Disaster Declarations: 3.14% per annum.

Fees and charges:
Security searches and registration fees will be applied.
There are no ongoing fees or charges.

Security will be considered at the RAA's discretion.

What you will need to apply

When you lodge an application for a loan, you will need copies of the following documents:

  • Last three years balance sheets and financial statements of the sporting club or association (these include profit and loss statements, trading account and depreciation schedules)
  • Quotes, estimates, tax invoices or receipts for repair or replacement of damaged assets and/or additional materials used in the clean-up
  • Photographs of damages or debris
  • Proof of charitable or sporting and recreation club or association status
  • Minutes of meetings or an annual general meeting held during the previous 12 months
  • A copy of the sporting and recreation club or association’s insurance policy
  • Confirmation of bank details, such as the front page of a bank statement showing the account name, BSB and account number.

Grants for sporting and recreation clubs and associations

Further assistance may be provided to sporting and recreation clubs and associations for clean-up and removal of debris. A grant of up to $2,000 is available to any single applicant from NSW Treasury.
