Application tips

At the point of application, you will need to upload up to 5 photographs showing direct damage to your property.

Please ensure your photos are:

• high quality and clear (blurry/poor quality images are not acceptable)
• uniquely named with no more than 100 characters in the file name
• in JPEG or PNG format with embedded metadata
  Note: Embedded data is automatically included in photos from your camera or phone - you do not need to add this - it is important the metadata is not changed.
  Note: We cannot accept images in HEIC formats.  Please ensure that any photographs you submit are not in these formats.
• a variety of close-up and distant images as well as horizontal and portrait images.

Examples of photographs that can be included in your application are farm infrastructure, lost or damaged crops, livestock, and fencing and/or tools of trade (equipment, plant).

To be eligible for the Natural Disaster Relief Grant or the Rural Landholder Grant, you must be able to satisfy the primary production income requirements set out in the relevant program guidelines.

So that we can assess your eligibility, you are required to submit copies of detailed financial statements (for each individual, company and trust related to the applying entity) showing a break down of primary production and non-primary production income.

Note: Proof of taxable income and notice of assessments are not acceptable documents.

When submitting proof of your bank account details, please ensure you include a screenshot or bank statement clearly showing your bank account number and BSB.

You may redact any other details that are not relevant.

To be eligible for the Natural Disaster Relief Grant or the Rural Landholder Grant, the property you are applying for must be within an eligible Local Government Area (LGA). Please refer to the Program Guidelines for a list of eligible LGAs. When applying, you will need to attach a copy of your most recent local government rates notice for the property affected by the disaster event.

Lease/agistment

If you lease or agist all or part of the property, please attach a copy of your current lease or agistment agreement. You will also be asked for the contact details of the property owner. The lease agreement must be current at the time of the natural disaster you are applying for.

Note: Local Land Services notices are not acceptable as they do not demonstrate proof of property ownership.

If your primary production enterprise has current insurance, a full copy of the policy will be required to be uploaded in the application form.

If your insurance policy does not cover flood damage the policy should still be included in the application as evidence of this.

Note: We cannot accept insurance quotes, certificates of currency or cover letters.
