Before you begin
To complete a Verification of Identity task, it’s essential that you’ve logged in to the RAA Portal using the Service NSW Log In option. If you didn’t choose this option initially or you’re unsure, log out and sign in again using Service NSW (the red button on the Log in or Register page).
You must have an active MyServiceNSW Account. If you don’t have a Service NSW account, you can create one when completing the task.
The email address used for your RAA Account must match your MyServiceNSW Account. If they don’t match, update one of your accounts before you begin.
How to verify your identity
1. Log in to the RAA Portal using the Service NSW Log In option. If you didn’t choose this option initially, log out and sign in again using Service NSW.
2. From the Home or Tasks page, or your Notifications, select the Identity Verification task.
3. Review the information and instructions, then select Complete identity verification.
4. You’ll be redirected to the Service NSW website. If you’re already logged in to your MyServiceNSW account, you’ll go straight to the Terms and Conditions page. If not, you’ll be prompted to enter your MyServiceNSW username and password.
5. Read the RAA Privacy Collection Notice and Terms and Conditions, then tick I agree and select Continue.
6. Review the requirements for identity verification (you’ll need two identity documents with matching name and date of birth), then select Continue.
7. Read the Service NSW Privacy Collection Notice and Terms and Conditions, tick I agree, and select Continue.
8. Choose whether to allow your verified details to be reused in future verifications – to enable this, tick I agree, then select Continue.
9. Select your preferred identity document types (for example, driver licence, passport, or Medicare card) and enter the details for two documents as prompted.
10. Once your documents are verified, review your MyServiceNSW account details (name, date of birth, and email).
11. Enter your mobile number and residential address, then select Continue.
12. Enter the authentication code sent to your mobile phone (or use your authenticator app), then select Continue.
13. You will be redirected back to the RAA Portal.
14. Select Validate identity verification on the task page to finish.
Alternative option: Verify in person
If you’re applying for an RAA loan and prefer not to verify online via Service NSW, you can complete your identity verification at an Australia Post outlet. Please contact the RAA Loans Team to request this option. You will then receive a verification request from Australia Post via email.
Steps:
1. Visit your local Australia Post office.
2. Bring the documents listed in your verification of identity request.
3. Complete your identity check in person.
4. Australia Post will confirm your identity with the RAA.
What happens next?
Once your identity is verified and your account is linked to one or more Financial Accounts (see the Account Linking support page for details), you’ll be able to view additional information about related business accounts in the Approved Assistance tab.
